This is one of the best things I've read in a very long time! Thank you for this. It's resonant on every level and it helps me to understand the process and a way to combat that knee-jerk need for spiritual bypassing.

Thanks for sharing, Karen. 😍 I’m glad you found it resonant. Spiritual bypassing is so tricky bc it gets stamped with approval a lot and it’s easy to miss that it’s a protective mechanism that keeps us stuck. It’s almost as popular as “staying busy” through grief or “I need a drink” for stress. So very tricksy!

I so resonate with this. I’ve had chronic pain now for 3+ years and done tons of different healing modalities to try to “cure” it, some days are awesome and some days I just want to give up. I’ve learned so much about myself and my limitations at this time and it is fricken’ frustrating not to be able to do what I’ve done before, to slow down, but slowing down had brought its own awareness. Yes, I want to be 100 % of what I was before, but if for some reason I cannot be, then I get I get to choose what is important to me and how I spend my energy.

Hi Shannon. What a beautiful awareness that choosing how you spend your energy is truly your *choice*. I wish we learned lessons like this in kindergarten! In my life I’m trying to refrain the healing modalities as support rather than a “fix” as “fixing” it has only caused self-rejection and blame. As you might imagine, that isn’t helping!

Loved this piece. Got here via Laura Bruno's blog. Pamela, are you comfortable sharing the name of the group you are in now? Also, the image of the bridge you posted at the end is wonderful! Blessings to you 🙏🏼💜

Hello! And welcome. Thanks for jumping in; it’s always nice to hear from readers. The bridge in a place a visit I often, believe it or not, near my home in the big city of Philadelphia. It’s a true blessing to have such easy access to nature. The group, still new to me, but I can share that it’s Dayana, a Feldenkrais teacher: https://dayana.io/. Would you tell me your name? High ORAC Value is a mouthful!

Hi Pamela! I'm Diana, sometimes aka eat2evolve on Laura's page :) I'm from the East coast, too, but mostly live in the California desert now. Your bridge reminded me of my home in Massachusetts. Thanks for sharing the teacher's name... I will check her out. xx

Welcome Diana from Massachusetts! You can also find Dayana on Insight Timer. I forgot to mention that before.

Beautiful post Pamela. I completely agree about the need to face your pain and trauma. So much of what we see in the world about healing is the soothing stuff, that bypasses the process of untangling the knots of trauma we need to unwind. It takes a lot of courage to go there, and you have described it perfectly.

Thank you, Carrie! I focused on the soothing for soooo long! It was better than nothing, but I never made progress untangling that which needed to be soothed. I was worried this post might come across as insensitive, so I’m especially grateful for your comment.
