HI Pamela!

Just a short story--it's related.

Some years ago I started with a new chiropractor--Network Chiropractic. On the first visit she asked me what I wanted from the treatments; what were my goals or intentions. When I told her, she responded with a compound question:

What if I can't heal your body--what if I can show you how to be ok in the middle of the storm?

Hi Chele! Well that about sums it up in just a few words! I’m curious about your response?

I loved what she said--it changed my life and perspective back then (20 years ago), working with her for several years.

There's a really huge up-shift in self-acceptance and capacity to heal when (we are) willing to embrace the process (journey) rather than the expectations of a healing destination...right? 💜

Totally agree! Amazing that you knew that then! Lots of people don’t want to hear this perspective.

So true. And right now your deeply vulnerable shares on A Soul's Journey, are so incredibly important, Pamela.

Many people are "beginning to believe," as Morpheus said to Neo, that there's more to the story of our humanity than they've been led to see.

People need to know we have been programmed to desperately seek perfection and fear our very human imperfections, rather than celebrate them. Falling and failing are some of the most important bits of evolution, because then we can find new ways to "get up!"

Not only is the medical industry perpetuating this "blue-pill, white-picket-fence" state with their allopathic, so-called remedies, the vast majority of people in the West are not only looking for the quick physical symptom fix they are "trying" to bypass emotional territory with fluffy spiritual work.

Little do they know that too is a symptom fix, and there is no such thing as a bypass in this sense.

Spiritual work is a wonderfully supportive part--and it's a part, of the growth process of our multi-faceted selves. I've never met a solely spiritual practice that actually resolves emotional material.

I look forward to your writings each week! Much gratitude for your courageous "memoirs."

Ah yes the big myth of our culture that the goal is to always “feel good”, which is both incredibly unrealistic and dehumanizing. It’s such a long term practice to accept and learn how to be compassionate with yourself when we’re going through a difficult period.

Compassion. I wish it were mandatory curriculum in every kindergarten! Could you say more about the “dehumanizing” aspect? I’m not sure I understand.

Believing that we need to feel good all the time is inherently dehumanizing because it’s pushing us to reject our very normal and real human experiences. It takes the humanity away.

Aah. Yes, I get what you’re saying now. Thanks for explaining. It’s the materialistic over culture, I believe, that says if we can’t see it under a microscope it isn’t real. But we humans are much more complicated!!
