Where the Healing Journey and the Soul’s Journey Intersect
Life-force, Reiki, and spiritual practice
Lots of things can lead to depleted life-force energy. If life-force (ki) withdrawals outweigh deposits, over time our health and wellness suffer. Poor digestion and sleep, low energy, lack of creativity and focus, pain, anxiety, depression, and malaise are all common side effects of dwindling ki.
(Note that there are other causes for these conditions as well. Correlation does not equal causation. Still, there are no negative effects from boosting ki.)
Unexpressed emotions can dam the flow of energy, eventually resulting in physical imbalances that defy medical explanation. Chronic stress and a sense of disempowerment can do the same.
Less than optimal day-to-day living can drain our energy- including dysfunctional relationship patterns and not providing the body with the basics of adequate sleep, nutrition, hydration, movement or oxygen.
These are conditions I see every day in my Reiki practice. They respond well to treatment; just like this morning when AAA jump-started my car. The battery was non-responsive and just needed some extra juice to get going. When our systems are exhausted, an infusion of life-force energy can be exactly what we need to get back on track.
And then… well, we need to make different choices if we want to have a different experience moving forward. Otherwise, we’ll continue to drain the tank and need consistent jump-starts just to stay even.
This also something I see in my practice; folks whose lives are just so unmanageable that they require consistent treatment to keep on going. It’s not ideal, but we can keep them chugging along with weekly or biweekly sessions so they don’t suffer the effects of ill health.
It’s not a problem in short term situations, but over time it’s just not sustainable.
What seems to me to be the underlying factor in most cases is that disconnection from one’s soul leads to a sort of apathy that has us just going through the motions and not engaged in living fully. This hamster wheel pattern is a tremendous drain on life-force energy, making it difficult to access the gusto necessary to cultivate lasting change and its benefits.
As we live in a world that doesn’t exactly nurture spiritual practice or connection with our true selves, it can seem daunting to turn within and access the innate power of body-mind-spirit integration.
I get it. I never said this was the easy path! It’s certainly not the most traveled one either.
I was fortunate enough to experience a unique set of challenges when I was young that lead me to explore off the main road. Yes, challenges can indeed be fortunate! For me, they mostly are learning opportunities, even if I don’t see them as such in the moment. But it was pain and suffering in my youth that led me to question everything and cast about for different options. If life had been all roses and unicorns, there would have been zero impetus to investigate.
If you find yourself in the frustrating zone of stuckness, hopelessness or despair, floundering along and feeling that nothing much matters, then perhaps you’re disconnected from your soul. Your soul is a very potent part of you. A part that will help you to recalibrate and feel at home in your body and mind, no matter the degree (or lack thereof) of health that you experience.
This, to me, is true healing. To remember that we are more than these bodies, these minds, these personalities and we are linked with an infinite web of energy and power should we just look within and connect the jumper cables.
(I have a theory the Reiki flows organically from the soul for those who are open to receiving it. But that is a story for another day…)
Reiki is an awesome healing modality and has been invaluable in my life and the lives of many of the people I work with. AND spending 10+ minutes every morning opening to my deepest, wisest, most eternal self has been the rocket juice that allows me to contain the healing energy rather than just letting it leak out all over the place.
They complement each other quite well. Reiki keeps my tank full so that I have what it takes to hear the inner voice and follow the guidance I receive. Without it, I’d still be stuck in the old coping patterns and not have the oomph to sidestep the rat race. And without the soul connection, I’d probably keep making choices from a heavily conditioned ego-mind and wondering why the results are so disappointing.
Sound intriguing? Great! I have lots to say and some very simple practices to share if you’ll just stay tuned. It all begins with willingness. If you’re really serious, take a moment to declare your intention to let your soul lead, and pay attention to the answers that subsequently present themselves.
Expect the unexpected! So often I hear reports that begin with, “You’re not going to believe this, but…” and “I know it sounds crazy, but…” because there is nothing logical about the soul’s journey.
And that’s what makes it all so amazing.
Yes! ✨ “To remember that we are more than these bodies, these minds, these personalities and we are linked with an infinite web of energy and power should we just look within and connect the jumper cables.”
