Hello there! Thanks for taking the time to drop by. I’m delighted you’re here and hope I’m able to provide some sort of inspiration or insight that helps you on your journey.

We have a full moon in Capricorn on July 21st. It’s a doozy for many reasons, the most intriguing of which (to me, anyway) is that it’s the second full moon in a row in Capricorn. This is a rarity and makes it extra Capricorny.

I had a whole spiel planned about using these energies for releasing the outdated structures that no longer support our well-being. You know, the habits that aren’t serving us anymore, maybe some that you never consciously chose, just adopted because some authority figure suggested you do things a certain way.

The current cosmic energies are really supportive of this right now. It’s a great time to take stock of what isn’t working and to let it go to make room for the next phase.

I have so much to say about this! And yet… I’ve been busier than expected actually doing just that and find myself facing a deadline and my article only half written. It’s a self-imposed deadline, for sure, but the full moon is coming and I committed to honoring her with a post.

So, once again, I pivot. My mind-made plans are not jiving with my soul’s plans.

How do I know? My body is telling me. I haven’t been feeling great for the past week or so. I think it’s detox stuff. You know, releasing the old to make way for the new, just like the rhythms of nature are urging me to do.

For the first time ever, I’m really doing all the wellness things. Loads of veggies, including cruciferous and fermented; daily movement, including time outside; solid sleep habits, sunshine, and summertime levels of hydration. I’ve managed to maintain some time for fun and creativity and do have a business to run.

Several times a day, I get in the sauna. That’s how I refer to my car in this crazy heat. It’s shockingly hot each time I enter and the AC doesn’t really get going until I arrive at my office, so I don’t usually bother using it. Everyone knows how fabulous saunas are for detoxifying and here I have ample opportunity for free access! You know how I love a good deal. 😆

That in itself is a lot. As a result, I’m giving my body what it needs to shed toxins that had been stored in my cells. Yesterday I was so tired that by 9am I was already thinking about a nap. I managed to get out for a hike, but scrapped my blogging efforts and housekeeping to lie down before I went to work. I’ve had a few headaches recently (very unusual for me, and what pointed me toward my “detox” diagnosis) that demanded I get into bed at unexpected hours.

Plus the food prep, the mindful eating sans email or book, the circadian rhythm greet-the-dawn-outdoors and turn-off-all-the-screens-at-sunset regime, and daily exercise all take a good chunk of time and effort.

Wellness is really a full-time job! I’m juggling a lot of balls and the in-depth article I had planned about habit-creating is the one I chose to drop. Hopefully I’m doing an ok job of modeling what I meant to write.

Know your priorities, make a plan, move in that direction, and adjust as needed. The body always provides clues if you pay attention. If you can ride the waves of the cosmic energies, they’ll carry you. If you want, you can struggle against them, and they’ll drag you along anyway.

There are two interesting books about habits that have lots of tips if you want to get nerdy. Atomic Habits by James Clear and Tiny Habits by BJ Fogg. As with many books, I found some really helpful stuff and some other stuff that just wasn’t for me. Maybe you’ll also find something helpful there.

I recorded an audio full moon practice called Relax, Receive and Release for paid subscribers to provide extra support during this time. It’s nice to have a guided visualization so you can just sit back and follow along. If finances are a barrier to you accessing these bonus audios, please message me and I can provide a gift subscription.
