Well, my friends, we made it! 2024 was a challenging year for many of us and we managed to get through, one way or another. Curiously, external circumstances were rough for me, yet I experienced more joy, creativity, and peace than ever. It was a good reminder that I get to decide how I feel about the things happening in my life.
As we approach this turning point, rather than using the mind to create a strategy to control the body and override the emotions, what if we approached resolutions differently? Instead of chasing symptoms of dis-ease, incoherence, and misalignment, why not go for the gold and address the root?
I’m talking about changing who we are vs. what we do. The person we identify ourselves as has (most likely) been influenced by conditioning, programming, wounding, trauma, and advertising. When we take more of a creative role, we can shift our identities to synch with our goals and values.
I have some suggestions. These are all affirmations that when embodied can shift our beingness over time. The doingness will organically follow. Don’t read this as a to-do list! Think of it as a menu; if something appeals to you, take it, consume it, absorb it. And if something is close, but not quite perfect, modify it.
May I be kind to myself.
May I listen to my inner voice.
May I honor and respect my body.
May I welcome all parts of myself.
May I know my intrinsic worth.
May I allow my emotions to flow freely.
May I let go of the habits, beliefs, patterns, behaviors, and relationships that do not serve my greatest good.
May I be true to myself.
May I find joy in my work.
May I receive the gifts, guidance, and blessings that come to me.
May I recognize limiting beliefs and be willing to release them.
May I find ease in asking for support.
May I flow through my days with ease and grace.
May I cultivate self-compassion.
May I cultivate comfort, pleasure, fun, playfulness.
May I (learn how to) rest and relax.
May I open to joy, peace, love, beauty, freedom, ease, prosperity…
Don’t for one second think you need to do it alone. Prayer is a simple, easy, foolproof way to connect with the divine for guidance and support. If you have Reiki superpowers, direct them towards your goals. If you are more science-minded, see your intentions in the quantum field and activate the power of your will. Or do all three!
Become a person who embodies the phrase you’ve chosen and run with it. Use it as a barometer when making decisions. As your beliefs about yourself change, your habits will automatically change to align themselves with the new you. And the changes will likely last beyond February, which is when most resolutions fizzle.
I have a lot of thoughts about healthy aging swirling in my head. I imagine they will form a series of posts that will drop throughout 2025. There is so much that we can do to promote optimal well-being for ourselves every day. Choosing a new theme for yourself is a great way to start.
Who do you want to be in 2025 and beyond? (Me? I’m going with relaxed, nourished, and supported. 🤩) If you’d like to share in the comments, there is an added bonus of being witnessed, which can contribute to accountability.
I’m wishing you all the very best for 2025. Let’s make it a great year!
Love the list! I would like to learn to embrace “it is enough just to be”. I want to do less in 2025! Thank you always for your guidance and suggestions! ❤️❤️
Yes, Pamela--it's been a right challenge--this 2024!
The beauty, the dichotomy, and maybe even the paradox for me has pretty much (always) been about warriorship: how to fight without fighting.
I'm going with allowing, accepting and amused☀️💜🌟
And hidden in those words is relaxed.
😎😇
